H2O University

The GWRS hosts over 4,000 visitors each year. Guests include engineers, scientists, professors, journalists, water professionals, service organizations, elected officials and students from around the globe. For those that do not have an opportunity to come and visit the plant, the H2O University hub of the GWRS website will serve as a place to access resources, exchange ideas and information, and educate people about the benefits of wastewater purification.
Overcoming public perception to garner overwhelming support for the GWRS was imperative to the project’s success. Even though the facility has been in operation since 2008, it is important that OCWD and OCSD continue to educate the community at-large about the efficiencies and safety of advanced wastewater purification to ensure GWRS continues to thrive and expand in the near future, as well as to build upon the momentum the project created in an effort to help other communities implement similar projects.
